I've just realised that our blog is now 1 year old. It's actually 1 years and about 20 days old so we nearly missed to say happy birthday.

Windows XP Running on Macs
With the Apple Boot Camp software it's now possible to run Windows XP and Mac OS on the new Intel based Macs. There's a lot of talk about how PC users will now convert to buying Macs but I wonder if that will really be the case.
Why do people buy Macs?
Well I've never bought one so I'm not best placed to comment but my take on it is they're lured in by the sleek design look. Macs are reported to be more stable and trouble free. There is less chance of getting a virus which in my opinion is only really because less people use them. They can afford them and lets face it they're not cheap compared to buying a PC.
So will PC users really convert?
I don't think so, they're still too expensive and they still don't have the expansive range of software available both free and commercial that PC users enjoy. I have friends who have Macs who also have PCs for PC software. I don't have friends who have PCs and also a Mac for using Mac software.
Will Mac users convert to PC?
In my opinion this is the more likely scenario. It used to be that Mac OS was leaps and bounds ahead of the Windows operating system in terms of stability but this isn't really the case anymore. Windows XP is extremely stable and (touch wood) I haven't seen the blue screen of death in about 4 years. As soon as Mac users see how stable XP is and the plethora of software freely available to PC owners then I think they might be scratching their heads wondering why they ever bought a Mac in the first place.
Than again Mac users are a stubborn lot that carry an air of unjustified authority and may just choose style over content :)
