Our new site should go live today. (Finger Crossed)
Friday, December 23, 2005
It was meant to be the new Virtuaffinity 2005 website and launched by March 2005 but finally it arrives just in time for the start of 2006. We've been so busy with everyone elses web work that our own site has repeatedly been put on the back burner.
As well as giving the site a facelift we've incorporated a few bits and pieces that we've been playing with over the year and have come to love.
Blogger
We love blogger and our own blog has grown to such an extent that we felt it worthy of becoming a part of our main site. We've branded it to look exactly like this site so it will fit in seamlessly.
Flickr
Still relatively new to us but it made an instant impression. Flickr is brilliantly simple but ticks all the boxes and is a great example of collaborative media sharing via the web. We're adding photos we take of our wonderings and displaying a random selection of 6 on our home page. It's a lovely way to have our home page look fresh and different on each visit. It's not big or clever but it's simple and effective which is something we like.
del.icio.us
del.icio.us is an online service that lets you save a list of your favourite websites and tag them with appropriate keywords. The beauty of it is that no matter where you go you'll always have your list of favourites with you. We're using it to display a list of sites we use regularly on our resources page so take a look to see if there is anything of interest to you.
